A leading women's and newborns specialty hospital in Houston is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to lead its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This 420+ bed facility is recognized for providing advanced maternal and neonatal services and is home to a Level IV NICU, delivering the highest level of neonatal care. The hospital also features the region's only March of Dimes NICU Family Support Program and welcomes more than 800 newborns each month.

Position Overview

The Nurse Manager is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the NICU while promoting excellence in patient care, staff development, and departmental performance. Working closely with the Director, this leadership role helps ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality care for critically ill newborns while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and clinical excellence.

This position provides operational and clinical leadership, supports nursing staff, oversees patient care standards, and contributes to quality and performance improvement initiatives throughout the department.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care delivery within the NICU.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and clinical support to nursing staff.
• Monitor patient care quality and ensure compliance with established clinical standards.
• Support staffing, workflow coordination, and daily department operations.
• Participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives designed to enhance patient outcomes.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to promote coordinated care.
• Mentor, coach, and develop nursing team members to support professional growth.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
• Promote a culture focused on patient safety, family-centered care, and clinical excellence.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of NICU experience required.
• Recent acute care NICU leadership experience within the last year required.
• Experience in a Level III or Level IV NICU required.
• Minimum of 2 years of management or Charge Nurse experience required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Current Texas Registered Nurse License or Multi-State Compact License required.
• Candidates holding a Compact License must obtain Texas licensure within 60 days of hire.
• Current American Heart Association BLS Certification required.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills.

Schedule

• Full-time position
• Flexibility required across multiple shifts, including evenings and nights
• Weekend rotation required
• On-call responsibilities included
