The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the flow of materials in and out of the transit warehouse, ensuring accurate purchasing, timely deliveries and pickups, and efficient day-to-day operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining inventory accuracy, managing vendor relationships, and supporting overall warehouse performance
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the performance of warehouse staff, ensuring efficient operations and adherence to all safety protocols.
- Ensure all materials required for upcoming projects are available in stock or procured in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Read and interpret design plan sets to accurately determine project material requirements and create detailed material lists.
- Monitor warehouse inventory levels and place material orders as needed to maintain adequate stock.
- Generate material work orders for each project to be pulled and prepared by warehouse associates.
- Maintain an organized warehouse layout and standardized inventory management system in accordance with operational standards and best practices.
- Verify material procurement requirements and project readiness with the appropriate departments prior to distribution.
- Notify relevant departments immediately when projects are ready to move to the next stage of execution.
- Communicate any project status changes that may impact material procurement or project timelines.
- Coordinate with internal departments to obtain updates, documentation, and information necessary to ensure smooth project workflow.
- Transfer projects to the Scheduling Department once all required materials have been procured.
- Ensure all materials for special projects are procured completely and on time before the scheduled installation date.
- Maintain responsibility for the safety, security, and accountability of all warehouse inventory, equipment, and assets.
- Maintain accurate, auditable records and ensure compliance with established procedures for shipping and receiving activities.
- Manage and track all material movement throughout the warehouse.
- Ensure the warehouse remains clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards at all times.
- Collaborate closely with the Service Team to manage materials, documentation, and RMA processing for service and warranty-related projects.
- Ensure all project orders are staged and prepared in the designated "Staging Zone" for the following day's operations before the end of each workday.
- Ensure all incoming materials are placed in the designated "Receiving Zone" and entered into the inventory system immediately upon receipt.
- Work closely with the Post-Installation Project Manager to ensure materials are ordered and available for upcoming projects and to resolve any material-related issues during installation.
- Continuously evaluate warehouse processes and implement improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and operational effectiveness
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required
- 2+ years of Solar Warehouse experience
- Previous experience operating a forklift is preferred
- Valid state driverβs license
- Ability to frequently bend, twist, squat, climb, kneel, crawl, turn, stand, and balance
- Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions including but not limited to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environment, and humidity
- Ability to work within the safe range of equipment such as ladders, fall protection harnesses, and other PPE.
- Ability to work while wearing heavy protective equipment such as arc flash suits, gloves, and face shields
