Reports To: Warehouse Supervisor

 

Job Goal:

To assist in shipping, receiving, storing, issuing, and delivering equipment, tools, and supplies, maintaining inventory control, and completing the required record keeping

 

Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma or GED

 

Certification/Licensure:

Valid Texas Driver’s license with acceptable driving record

 

Experience:

 

Three years of experience in inventory control, delivery, shipping and receiving activities

 

Special Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Basic proficiency of the use of a computer
  2. Ability to operate hand tools and mechanical equipment
  3. Ability to ship and receive various products
  4. Ability to read supply requisitions
  5. Ability to perform basic arithmetic
  6. Ability to operate light truck, forklift, and pallet jack

 

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Verify accuracy of shipments by counting, weighing, or measuring items and comparing size, weight, description, and code numbers with information on invoice or packing slip and purchase orders; record any discrepancies or damage.
  2. Open crates and other containers using hand tools to unpack items received.
  3. Inspect shipments for damage and defects.
  4. Move inventory to various locations manually and by operating mechanical equipment, including forklift, pallet jack, and handcart.
  5. Sort and store all items according to established procedures.
  6. Maintain computerized inventory records, take physical count periodically, and check against inventory control totals using computer.
  7. Requisition additional supplies from purchasing department as needed.
  8. Read and fill requisitions. Verify accuracy of orders pulled.
  9. Drive light truck to various locations throughout Region 4 to deliver materials. Obtain authorized signature for supplies requested.
  10. Load and unload delivery truck by hand or by use of hand truck/forklift.                     
  11. Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles according to prescribed safety procedures.
  12. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, carrying, etc.
  13. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
  14. Identify any need for repairs on vehicles and equipment by following established inspection procedures.
  15. Closely monitor product inventory and report unfavorable trends to the warehouse supervisor.
  16. Sweep and clean the warehouse daily.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors/ Mental Demands:

Prolonged standing and walking; frequent bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; frequent manual labor required which includes the ability to pack, move, pick-up and relocate boxes and furniture weighing 50 or more lbs; may work prolonged and irregular hours including working Saturdays and some evenings as needed; work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under pressure.
