Volunteer Engagement Specialist

SALARY: $58-60K DOE

OVERVIEW: 

We are seeking a creative Volunteer Engagement Specialist to create and lead volunteer and educational opportunities for United Way’ workplace campaigns, affinity groups and donor prospects to learn more about United Way's work and impact in the community. This position is ultimately responsible for creating a positive and engaging volunteer experience for all donors and stakeholders. The Specialist will be responsible for planning and implementing year-round volunteer engagement efforts by coordinating with internal and external partners, procuring project materials, overseeing project communication, maintaining project expenses and associated activities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES: 

• Responsible for creating and leading volunteer engagement experiences for United Way corporate partners, donor groups, and community members, coordinating with Advancement, Mission & Strategy, and Community Outreach teams to develop, promote and implement meaningful experiences that align with the United Way’s mission and strategy. Coordinates communication strategies, reporting, and budgeting with other United Way divisions and participating entities. Works to ensures that the overall volunteer experience is positive, prioritizing volunteer safety and securing required volunteer waivers prior to an event.
• Develops relationships with major corporate partners and affinity groups through United Way Advancement staff to build custom, year-round engagement opportunities aligned with corporate goals, affinity group goals, and United Way’s Second Century Vision.
• Creates and executes new volunteer experiences unique to United Way of Greater Houston and in partnership with funded partners that align with Second Century Vision.
• Supports Advancement events throughout the year including Volunteer Engagement Day of Caring events, events for donor groups, and other campaign events.
• Works with supervisor and team to continuously improve Volunteer Engagement processes and to develop new engagement opportunities.
