Summary:
The Upper School French teacher is a committed Sacred Heart educator who has a strong commitment to educating students in French language and culture.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Implement into instruction appropriate educational curriculum based on the NCSSFL-ACTFL (National Standards for 21st Century Language Learning-American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages), French Content Standards, the course syllabi, and focus on all levels of High School French, including Advanced Placement.
- Be an active member of the World Languages Department by attending meetings, developing, and updating course curricula for core as well as elective courses, and supporting the work of the department.
- Plan, organize, and lead activities designed to promote academic, social, and emotional development in a supportive and engaging learning environment.
- Provide course information, assignments, grades, and feedback on the school’s learning management system in a timely manner.
- Create an emotionally responsive, caring, positive, and accepting environment supportive of the individual development of each child and family.
- Supervise an Upper School Sophie’s Space Advisory group.
- Supervise children and ensure a safe and loving environment including the ability to always monitor and respond to events in the classroom, outdoor play areas, and other areas of the campus.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
- Attend staff meetings, serve on committees as required, seek and attend professional development opportunities.
- Evaluate each student’s growth and performance.
- Provide timely constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Prepare and distribute report cards online.
Minimum Education/Prior Experience/Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s Degree
- High level of competence using technology
- Experience in a PreK – 12 environments, preferably in independent schools
- Strong references to convey teaching abilities

Upon Hire
- Successful completion of fingerprint-based background check and sexual offender registry information.
- Completion of CMG Safe Environment training
- Current CPR certification
