Position Overview:

The Unit Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, establishing guidelines and controls, and directing the activities at the Houston plant.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Actively support and enforce the plant's HS&E standards.
  • Actively support and promote continuous improving performance standards .
  • Manage the plant’s operating production unit(s).
  • Support Enterprise and Houston Continuous Improve Teams’ efforts.
  • Support the Management Team’s initiatives and help drive change.
  • Provide miscellaneous leadership and fill in for Production Supervisor.
  • Contribute to T/A, Minor shutdown and maintenance planning.
  • Maintain required Process Safety Management documentation.
  • Manage fixed costs in area of responsibility.
  • Maximize burning rate and unit efficiency.
  • Support the Houston Plant’s Management HS&E Responsibilities, by utilizing: Supervisor Performance Standards, Stop Work Policy, Zero Tolerance, and HS&E Excellence.
  • Ensure that all Eco Services and regulatory requirements are met for Production/Operations Employees.
  • Ability to work additional hours to accomplish objectives and ensure high performance of the plant.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in chemical engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 plus years of sulfuric acid or chemical plant experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience leading a production team.
  • Union plant experience is preferred.
  • Must have strong leadership, people, and supervisory/management skills
  • Must have working knowledge of Production related activities.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot concerns and problems in the Production/Operations Department (basic engineering principles).
  • Must know basic math.
  • Advanced computer skills (e.g., MS Office and SAP.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Must have a TWIC card.
