Job Summary

 

Technical procedures Writer prepares instruction manuals, standard operating procedures, policies, and other documentation to communicate complex and technical information more easily. Writer maintains electronic library to gather and disseminate information to applicable audiences globally. Leads and executes the internal documentation review and approval process. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Create a variety of clear, concise documents including how-to guides and instruction manuals and standard operating procedures and policies according to specific audiences, systems, products, and existing and new services. 

 

  1. Seek input from project leads, leadership, and subject matter experts during development phase of materials; follow document development life cycle prior to releasing documents for final approval.

 

  1. Gather user feedback to update and improve content; revise content as new issues arise.

 

  1. Collaborate with subject matter experts to monitor international aviation policy changes, rules, laws, and regulations affecting private aviation and provide updates to policies and procedures as required.

 

  1. Create and manage information architecture; maintain records and files of work and revisions; organize materials according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. 

 

  1. Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other documentation developers.

 

  1. Use graphics such as photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material.

 

  1. Observe production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedure development requirements.

 

  1. Explain technical ideas in simple language; ensure technical verbiage is easy to understand by diverse, international audiences.

 

  1. Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of products and services to drive initial documentation development and revision requirements. 

 

  1. Complete other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications and Requirements

 

  • Some college required; prefer degree in communications or aviation. 

 

  • Experience drafting formal communications or training materials preferred.

 

  • Exceptional communication skills required; must be able to apply attention to detail to ensure accuracy of written and oral communications.
  •  
  • Information mapping certification desired.

 

  • Extensive knowledge in MS Office, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access & MS Outlook.

 

  • Highly proficient MS Word skills required: templates, styles, headers, working with cross referencing figures, tables and sections.

 

  • Knowledge of Document Control fundamentals & Quality Systems.

 

  • Experience in maintaining websites a plus.

 

  • Experience with Sharepoint software a plus.

 

  • Team player capable of working independently and cooperatively.
