Job Title: Staff Accountant
Department: Millmark Capital
Reports to: Director of Accounting, Millmark Capital
Status: Full Time/Exempt, Salaried

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant will gather and analyze financial records and documentation for a variety of purposes, including generating financial reports, compiling profit statements, filling out tax returns, and making budgets. This is an entry-level role.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Research and resolve issues or discrepancies with accounts, bills or invoices
• Process accounts payable transactions
• Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and credit cards
• Perform the following accounting functions: journal entries, general ledger review, balance sheet reconciliation, monthly/quarterly accrual entries, calculating and booking equity investments & conducting basic trend analysis of financial statements.
• Provide accurate documentation in accordance with policies and procedures
• Handle special projects as needed

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to maintain professionalism and a strong customer-focused demeanor with demanding clientele.
• Excellent time management skills, detail-orientation and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills and proficient in English. Must be able to effectively articulate needs and convey information verbally and in writing with customers, supervisors, and co-workers throughout the organization.

• Strong knowledge and proficiency in Excel
• Knowledge of cloud-based accounting and forecasting software, especially Quickbooks a plus
• Attention to detail, and ability to identify patterns in financial and operational data.
• Problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.
• Ability to clearly summarize and communicate financial information to Finance and other departments and build rapport with others.
• Team player, strong work ethic and passion to meet goals and consistently improve

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field required.
• Internship or work experience in accounting or business.
• 0-1 year of experience; this is an entry-level role.
• QuickBooks knowledge a plus
