The Staff Accountant will support key accounting functions and will work closely with the accounting team and cross-functional departments to ensure the accuracy of financial data and assist with timely reporting. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, organized individual with a solid understanding of accounting principles and a desire to grow in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities:

General Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Assist in maintaining general ledger accounts and recording financial transactions.
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Perform account reconciliations, including bank statements, prepaid accounts, and accruals.
  • Assist with preparing and posting journal entries (accruals, adjustments, etc.).
  • Help review and verify financial data for completeness and accuracy.
  • Provide documentation and support for audits and financial reporting processes.
  • Collaborate with the finance, operations, and other departments to support business needs.
  • Provide support to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions as needed.
  • Maintain organized records and ensure proper documentation of accounting activities.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end close procedures by preparing reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Support the accounting team during audits by providing documentation and data as requested.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and help implement best practices.


Financial Analysis & Budget Support

  • Support variance analysis by gathering financial data and assisting in monthly reporting.
  • Help prepare financial schedules and reports for management review.
  • Assist in the budgeting process by compiling data and reviewing trends under the direction of senior staff.


Tax & Compliance Support

  • Assist in the preparation, organization, and submission of tax-related documentation, including sales tax, use tax, and annual return support.
  • Gather, review, and compile financial records, schedules, and supporting documents required for quarterly and year-end tax filings.
  • Coordinate with the external accounting firm by providing timely and accurate information to support corporate, state, and local tax return preparation.
  • Maintain detailed records of all tax submissions and communications with external tax advisors.
  • Track and monitor deadlines to ensure timely submission of all tax-related deliverables.
  • Stay current on changes in tax regulations and accounting standards to support compliance and minimize risk.
  • Support internal compliance by adhering to established procedures and assisting with audits or internal reviews as needed.


Internal Controls & Process Improvements

  • Follow established internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Assist with documenting processes and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Support efforts to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting or a related role.
  • Basic knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Familiarity with general ledger systems and accounting software; experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Eagerness to learn and take on increasing responsibility over time.
