Founded in 1947 by Nina Vance, the Alley Theatre is a pioneer of regional theatre, and one of the leading nonprofit theatre companies in the United States. JOB STATEMENT
The Staff Accountant will work as a member of the Finance department in the daily financial operations of Alley Theatre, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.
JOB DUTIES
- Account Reconciliation
- Monthly reconciliation with reports of:
- Cash accounts to bank statements
- Investment accounts to custody statements
- Contributed revenue and receivables to donor records
- Prepaid expenses and accounts payable to vendor statements and records
- Ticket revenue to box office sales reports.
- Concessions revenue to bar sales reports
- Employee benefits withholding to insurance invoices
- Credit card statements to employee card expenses
- Resolve chargeback and fraudulent credit card transactions
- Financial Reporting
- Lead monthly close process
- Partner with CFO to provide documentation for year-end audit
- Perform financial analysis for special projects as assigned
- Data Entry and Other
- Deposit data into general ledger
- Journal entries
- Concessions and Store COGS and inventory
- Payroll entries to general ledger
- Other duties as assigned
QualificationsREQUIREMENTS (SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE)
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or bachelor’s degree in business with a professional accounting certification required.
- Three years of experience in small business or non-profit accounting
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel required
- Basic knowledge of Sage Intacct accounting software preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, energized and quickly changing environment.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills.
- Detail oriented, able to prioritize efficiently and multi-task.
- Ability to be self-directed and take initiative.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Exhibits a positive attitude with good communication and interpersonal skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift and move 25 lbs.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where directions and priorities can change rapidly.
- Typical hours are during the day, but the position requires flexibility to be available for weekend, holidays and evening work hours as needed.
