Description

 

Analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, and other financial activities within the organization. This role provides management with accurate and timely financial information by researching, analyzing accounts, and preparing financial statements. Due to the nature of the role, this position requires consistent on-site presence at the Houston office. We are open to hiring at the Staff Accountant or Senior Staff Accountant level depending on experience.


Essential Functions (Duties that are fundamental to the role and must be performed on-site)

This position requires physical presence in the Houston office due to internal control requirements, banking authorization responsibilities, access to secure financial systems, handling of physical records, and in-person coordination with internal and external stakeholders. These essential functions must be performed on-site regardless of the physical location of the reporting manager.

  • Prepare for complete accounting cycle, including opening, posting entries to general ledger and month-end closing.
  • Prepare related-party transaction reports and quarterly footnote reporting packages for consolidation with headquarters in South Korea.
  • Review, verify, and prepare vouchers for vendor payments and employee travel and expense reimbursements, including examination of original supporting documentation maintained on-site.
  • Prepare and file state sales tax returns accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with tax agents and provide required documentation for annual tax filings.
  • Develop, implement, modify, and document accounting and recordkeeping systems in coordination with on-site finance leadership.
  • Train new employees in person on SAP and the company’s accounting policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with auditors and provide documentation and explanations for quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Extract and analyze accounting transactions from SAP and prepare reports for the Finance Manager using secure on-site systems.
  • Ensure income and expenses are properly recorded in accordance with IFRS, U.S. GAAP, and company accounting policies.
  • Review and authorize bank transactions as an authorized signer and security administrator, in compliance with internal control requirements.
  • Provide assistance with government and regulatory documentation maintained in physical or secure formats.
  • Maintain accruals and related accounting records within SAP.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems, including SAP
  • Strong aptitude for data management and working with numbers
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy

Physical & On-Site Requirements

  • This position is performed entirely on-site at the Houston, TX office.
  • Regular or hybrid work arrangements are not available for this role.
  • Regular, predictable, and punctual on-site attendance during standard business hours is an essential function of the job.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and handle, organize, and maintain physical financial files.
  • Ability to move between departments as required by business needs.
  • Ability to lift and carry office supplies, files, and packages weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to travel locally for bank-related activities, vendor visits, audits, or meetings as required.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: 3+ years of professional experience in accounting, finance, or related functions
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent education
  • A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Proficient in SAP is preferred
