Senior Staff Accountant
Reporting to the VP, Accounting, responsibilities include but not limited to maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, supporting month-end and year-end processes, forecasting and analysis processes.

KEY ACTIVITIES
•Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue and expense entries by compiling and analysing account information.
•Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
•Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trail balance, and reconciling entries.
•Summarizes financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other documents.
•Assists with external audits by analysing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
•Protects the organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
•Able to work on a collaborative basis in a team oriented financial function

WORK HOURS AND BENEFITS
This is a Salaried Exempt position that will normally require 40 hours of work per week. It will often require travel to our Sulphur, Louisiana office. All costs for such travel will be reimbursed per the company guidelines. It also includes a comprehensive benefit package including medical benefits, 401K participation and match, paid vacation and an annual bonus up to 15% of the annual salary and the ability to work remotely one day per week pending managers approval.
QUALIFICATIONS (Professional, Technical, Academic)
•Bachelor’s degree with a degree in accounting, finance or a similar major is required
•Seven (7) years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in corporate or public accounting.
•Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
•Proficiency in accounting software (preferably Great Plains)
•Excellent analytical, organization, and problem-solving skills.
•Experience using accounting software
•Strong work ethic, positive attitude and team player
•Ability to write effectively, present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, employees, customers, etc.
•Ability to influence teams- an enthusiastic leader
