Overview:

Bay Systems Consulting is seeking a highly skilled SOC Software Engineer to support the Lockheed Martin Orion Program, one of the most ambitious human spaceflight initiatives. In this hybrid role based in Denver, CO or Houston, TX, you will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the systems used in Lockheed Martin’s Security Operations Center, ensuring mission-critical software and network reliability, performance, and security.

You’ll be part of a highly collaborative team working on sophisticated software in a Linux-based environment, contributing to systems integration, emulation, troubleshooting, and secure software development lifecycles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain SOC-related software using C++ and Python
  • Engineer and debug multi-threaded applications supporting SOC infrastructure
  • Support integration and troubleshooting with emulation platforms, particularly QEMU
  • Analyze and improve network communication systems, with a focus on RUC/RF protocols
  • Collaborate in a Linux development environment for building, testing, and deploying secure systems
  • Contribute to the full software development lifecycle: from requirements, design, and implementation to testing, deployment, and maintenance
  • Interface with SOC operators and other engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve software/system issues
  • Support containerized application development and deployment
  • Assist with integration and support for systems aligned with the Orion Program architecture
  • Maintain a focus on security, reliability, and system robustness throughout all development tasks

Required Qualifications:

  • Extensive hands-on experience with C++
  • Proficiency in Python scripting and development
  • Strong experience developing and debugging multi-threaded applications
  • Deep understanding of network protocols, especially RUC/RF-based systems
  • Proficient in working within a Linux-based development environment
  • Experience with software debugging and troubleshooting across complex systems
  • Experience across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Strong analytical and communication skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with QEMU or similar emulation platforms
  • Familiarity with emulator integration and system-level troubleshooting
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Podman)
  • Knowledge of or prior work on the Orion Program or similar aerospace/defense systems
  • Experience working in or supporting a Security Operations Center (SOC) or secure computing environments

Work Environment:

  • Hybrid role: 3 days a week onsite at either the Denver, CO or Houston, TX facility
