Company: Texas United Management Corporation

Responsibilities: 

    • Prepare and/or oversee the federal and state compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations
    • Gather and review the underlying data that flows into the federal and state tax returns
    • Review of outsourced returns.
    • Company Federal returns (prepared by PwC):
      • One S Corp with 4 subsidiaries, primarily in the salt business (one of the subs has 8 subsidiaries of its own)
      • One LLC in the specialty chemicals business with 2 subsidiaries (Final Returns in 2025)
      • One LLC with 12 subsidiaries in the brine production and storage business
      • One LLC in the brine transmission business
      • One LLC with 1 subsidiary in the brine production business
      • One LLC with minimal transactions currently

     

    • State Tax Returns (prepared in-house by Tax Accountant):
      • Texas – 6 company returns (4 of them are consolidated returns) & 5 no tax due returns
      • New York – 3 partnership returns, 1 group return, 10 trust returns
      • New Mexico – 1 corporate return
      • Louisiana – 6 company returns, 3 group returns, 2 partnership returns
      • Virginia – 1 company return and 1 group return
      • California – 2 company returns and 1 group return
      • Illinois – 2 company returns
      • Pennsylvania – 1 company return
      • Additional states will be added in the future as nexus determinations are made.

     

    • Federal Flow Through Owner returns (prepared by Crowe LLP) :
      • 3 Partnership returns
      • 20 Trust returns
      • 18 Individual returns

  

Education Requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting, CPA preferred
  • 3+ years of tax experience in industry/accounting firm
  • 3+ years partnership, S-Corp, and individual tax experience
  • Experience in the preparation of state tax returns

 

 Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • SAP experience is a strong plus
  • Experience with tax preparation software (CCH Axcess preferred)
  • Knowledge of tax depreciation 

 

 Working Conditions:

  • Standard office hours for this role are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday-Friday.
  • This position requires on-site presence five days per week during the first 90 days of employment to support onboarding and training.
  • After the initial 90-day period, the role typically transitions to a hybrid work schedule. Three days per week in the office are required.
    • When working from home, the employee should remain active on Microsoft Teams, respond to internal and external messages within one to two hours, and complete all daily assigned tasks within expected quality and timeliness standards.
    • Working from home must be seamless and without disruptions. All team members, internal and external customers, should continue to receive excellent customer service without compromise. If any issues impact our ability to deliver that level of service, remote work will no longer be an option, and the employee will be required to work full-time from the office. This includes technical or connectivity issues, among others.
    • The person in this role is also expected to be available to work at the office when needed for special projects, critical deadlines, training, or any other work-related requirements.
  • All employees are expected to use Microsoft Teams as the primary platform for: 
    • Real-time collaboration with colleagues 
    • Task assignment and tracking 
    • Maintaining accountability for deliverables and deadlines 
    • Prompt communication through chats, calls, and group messages 
  • Consistent engagement on Teams is essential to ensuring transparency, productivity, and team alignment, regardless of work location.
  • Physical requirements are typical for an in-office environment. Computer, email, and phone-related tasks account for over 80% of the typical workday. Physical requirements include acceptable close vision, fine motor skills associated with typical computer work, communication, and the ability to focus for long periods mentally.
  • Must handle multiple communication inputs and juggle numerous requests daily.
  • Must create and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, vendors, customers, and peers across the team and company.
  • Reports to Texas United Management Corporation’s Tax Director.
