Coterra is hiring a Senior Revenue Accountant in Houston, Texas
JOB SUMMARY
As a Senior Revenue Accountant at Coterra, you will be responsible for recording and reconciling revenue from oil and gas sales, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting. You will analyze production data, allocate sales, and oversee royalty distributions while resolving complex accounting issues. Additionally, you will prepare internal and external reports, perform account reconciliations, and support regulatory compliance efforts. This position is located on site at our Houston, Texas headquarters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Records revenues from the sale of oil and gas production
Prepares monthly royalty distributions
Maintain inventory for pipeline imbalances
Send invoices for residue and NGL sales and communicate with customers
Reviews and processes division of interest changes and makes appropriate entries to reflect changes as necessary
Makes allocations of sales to wells on sales invoices, marketing arrangements and production volumes and record sales receivable
Communicates with other departments to understand bigger picture as it relates to Accounting
Analyzes and reconciles general ledger accounts and makes adjusting entries to ensure accounts are balanced, complete and correct
Prepares sales variance analysis and assists with research for variance explanations, which may involve preparing various schedules reports and analyses
Prepares month-end and quarterly accounting reports via spreadsheets
Uses accounting knowledge to develop, implement, or modify entries to computerized accounting systems and the general ledger
Participates in period closings to ensure financial records and reports are accurate
Performs analysis of trends and other financial impacts to the company
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Established proficiency in computing skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs is required at this level. Understanding of computerized accounting programs, specifically Oracle is preferred.
Must be a self- starter and possess the ability to work independently
Must be able to work with large amounts of detailed data with high level of accuracy
Must be a team player
Must possess strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
Must be able to meet established deadlines
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
Minimum of eight (8)years of experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education, typically required for this role.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Less than 5% - Travel may be required for mandatory meetings or training.
