Job Description:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting. This role manages core accounting functions, supports month-end and year-end close activities, assists with budgeting and forecasting, and serves as a key resource for internal stakeholders on accounting-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

 Record and review daily accounting transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, payroll, and credit card activity
 Prepare and post monthly journal entries and maintain supporting schedules
 Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of financial records
 Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes
 Monitor revenue and expense recognition and assist in developing appropriate controls and reporting processes
 Prepare financial analyses and reports for leadership to support business decisions
 Monitor cash balances and assist with cash flow forecasting and liquidity management
 Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable regulatory requirements
 Assist budget managers with the development and monitoring of departmental and project budgets
 Support external audit processes by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor requests
 Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and system efficiencies
 Utilize financial systems and reporting tools to streamline workflows and enhance financial visibility
 Communicate financial performance, trends, and key insights to finance leadership
 Participate in special projects and other accounting initiatives as needed


Qualifications:

Education & Experience
 Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
 Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience preferred
 Experience with financial reporting, month-end close, account reconciliations, and general ledger accounting
 Experience within the energy, utilities, infrastructure, manufacturing, or capital-intensive industries is a plus
 Prior experience supporting natural gas storage, pipeline, or midstream operations is preferred but not required
 CPA designation and/or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred

Technical Skills

 Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
 Experience with ERP and financial management systems such as Sage Intacct, Oracle, or similar platforms
 Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and financial modeling
 Strong data management, reporting, and analytical capabilities
 Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis
