• Personnel shall be proficient in spoken and written English.
• Personnel shall be a graduate of a school of nursing that was approved and/or accredited by the appropriate State agency and accredited by either the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) at the time the program was completed, or in the case of graduates from foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, unrestricted license as described herein will also meet the basic education requirement.
• Individuals must meet physical requirements to perform a full range of duties without physical restrictions.
• Personnel must also have a working knowledge and basic skills in the use of personal computers (PC). Contract personnel are required to be credentialed through VetPro.
• Evidence of completion of required licensure, credentials, required training, current competencies and initiation of background investigations must be validated for all contractor personnel referred to perform services under this contract prior to providing direct patient care.

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
This contract requires the services of RNs in various areas. The experience required should be within the past five (5) years:

• RN (Specialty Care –SICU/ CCU/MICU/ ICU/PACU/Cath Lab/Bronch, Emergency Department & Stepdown)
• Current ACLS Certification ( SICU/ IMCU/ CCU/ ICU, Stepdown, and Emergency Room.
• Current BLS Certification
• One (1) year of experience in Critical Care Nursing

Job Description

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
RN: The RN will utilize their broad based clinical knowledge to effectively assess, implement health promotion and prevention interventions, manage acute and chronic illness states, assist patient/residents in the attainment of optimal levels of functioning rehabilitation, evaluate patient/resident response to actual or potential health problems, and provide supportive measures for the dying patient/resident and their significant others.

• Nursing care is performed in accordance with the Texas Registered Nurses Practice Act. The VA Nurse Manager(s), or appropriate nursing leadership delegate (i.e. Assistant Nurse Manager), will provide the RN with clinical oversight during their tour of duty.
• More specific duties and responsibilities of the Registered Nurse are described below and shall be assessed by MEDVAMC prior to provider acceptance.
• Maintain patient/resident confidentiality and a safe patient/resident care environment, including familiarity with requirements such as medication administration, patient/resident/family education, discharge process, restraint usage, hazardous waste disposal, etc.,

Qualifications

TOUR OF DUTY: Clinic provides nursing services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Contract nursing service shall supplement full time  staff as staffing needs arise, depending on vacancies, vacations, resignations, and illnesses to ensure required staffing levels are maintained. Contractor's personnel will be required to work a minimum of 2 weekend days/nights shifts using a standardized tour of duty. Contractor's personnel shall be required to work any regular or irregular tour with a 30-minute lunch break.
Standard Tours of Duty:
Day 0730 to 2000
Evening 1130 to 2400
Night 1930 to 0800

SCHEDULING:
Contractor's personnel will be scheduled for shifts (Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, etc.) based on the needs, providing maximum flexibility to the appropriate authority in scheduling. Contractor's personnel will be required to submit monthly schedule by the second Monday of the month.
(Does not guarantee a set contract or number of hours for any agency personnel.
Reserves the right to cancel or change any scheduled shift of any contract personnel with at least a two-hour notice to the contractor prior to cancellation of a shift.
Retains the right to change the scheduled shift and/or work location,, provided the nurse is clinically qualified to work in the area.)
