Summary/Objective
In keeping with our organization’s goals, the Regional Nurse Consultant is responsible for the oversight of all nursing programs, compliance, quality assurance, and systems development. Success in this position is measured by survey results, patient outcomes, and risk mitigation. In collaboration with the Administrator and Director of Nursing. This position is to observe, identify, correct, maintain, and develop processes and programs to ensure that the company’s clinical objectives are achieved.
Job Duties
· Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct all systems, policies, and procedures for all aspects of the nursing department; in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern long term care facilities.
· Develop, maintain, and periodically update written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of direct care operations.
· Develops structures to optimize clinical service revenue in accordance with all rules/regulations that apply.
· Develop, maintain, and oversee risk management programs.
· Develop, educate, and oversee all reporting, data collection, and other pertinent information to maintain full regulatory compliance.
· Establishes metrics and goals for process and outcome measures that impact on and result in reimbursement and provides guidance to client facilities.
· Leverage existing and new technologies to have continual monitoring of clinical services.
· Participate in facility surveys made by authorized government agencies as necessary.
· Perform mock surveys and assist facilities with proper survey preparation.
· Assist and oversee proper completion and timely return of Plans of Corrections or other related documents as may be necessary to send governmental agencies.
· Regularly visit, make rounds, observe, audit, and educate respective facility staff of Paradigm facilities.
· Performs ongoing evaluations from pre-admission through discharge to ensure an appropriate reimbursement level for each resident. Evaluates care to ensure that services and products match benefits available
· Work to continually improve all aspects of Paradigm operations, especially as it pertains to clinical services.
· Recommend appropriate staffing levels.
· Ensure proper education is received for nursing staff and encourage nursing supervisory staff to attend and participate in outside training programs (as recommended by Paradigm Healthcare).
· Responds to any audit for either Medicare and/or Medicaid and gathers necessary paperwork for submission
· Develop, implement, and maintain effective orientation programs to appropriately orient new employees to the company, its policies and procedure, and to his/her position and duties.
· Ensure seamless transition from hospital care to skilled nursing.
· Attend meetings as necessary to assist other managers in develop relationships with doctors and doctors’ offices.
· Identify and work through implementation of necessary specialty program.
· Support and promote the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the facility’s clinical programs and activities.
· Monitors facility practice to ensure compliance with guidelines for participation in Medicare, Medicaid and other benefit programs. Initiates action needed to ensure compliance.
· Assists in preparation and timely submission of any additional development requests, reconsiderations and administrative law judge hearings.
· Represent the company and participate in top-level meetings.
· Ensure buildings are “State Ready” every day.
· Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Director of Clinical Services concerning facilities’ clinical and compliance readiness.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Although this is a Monday through Friday position, in the world of nursing, significant events can occur at any given time. Ongoing direction and support may be necessary if systems aren’t properly implemented, continuously improved upon, and monitored.
Travel
This position will be expected to travel as needed to multiple facilities.
Benefits:
Required Education and Experience
· Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Texas
· Two plus years of Director of Nursing experience
· Must have demonstrated ability to self-identify and implement new processes and policies.
· Must be able to demonstrate leadership, organizational skills, and maintain a positive and professional attitude.
· Recent long-term care experience required.
· Self-motivated and self-directed.
· Strong utilization knowledge of Point Click Care
· Computer literacy skills (Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, Internet)
· Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Education and Experience
· Regional Nurse Consultant experience
