About the Role
An engineering firm is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join its consulting practice. This position offers the opportunity to be deeply involved in every stage of the project lifecycle—from early design concepts through to construction documentation and site support. The role requires strong analytical thinking, creativity, and the ability to work directly with clients and multidisciplinary teams on complex material handling and industrial facility projects.
Key Responsibilities
Develop technical documents, including calculations, specifications, cost estimates, sketches, and reports related to bulk material handling and processing systems.
Perform design and sizing calculations for conveyor systems (motors, gearboxes, bearings, belts, etc.), with experience in Belt Analyst or similar software strongly preferred.
Utilize 3D modeling tools for system design; familiarity with AutoCAD is required, 3D CAD proficiency is highly valued.
Draft, review, and finalize project specifications in alignment with codes, standards, and client requirements.
Provide quality assurance and compliance checks throughout the project lifecycle.
Support designers and drafters in the layout and design of mechanical systems.
Conduct site assessments to gather data, monitor installation progress, and verify construction against design intent.
Collaborate closely with engineers from other disciplines, contractors, and project managers to ensure integrated solutions.
Research and apply relevant codes and regulations to ensure project compliance.
Manage or participate in multiple active projects, balancing schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
2–5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design and engineering, ideally with a focus on bulk material handling systems (belt conveyors, feeders, bucket elevators, screw conveyors, etc.).
Solid understanding of industrial systems and facility design.
Proficiency in AutoCAD; additional 3D design capabilities are a plus.
Knowledge of applicable codes, industry standards, and construction practices.
Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
