Description

Perform process improvements and optimization for existing manufacturing processes and products. Work with product design engineering and manufacturing engineering teams on new product manufacturing plans. Provide daily support of processes on manufacturing floor.


Scope:
Responsible for production and manufacturing support functions in all manufacturing operations.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Analyze existing manufacturing processes for improvements in cycle times, increasing capacity and reducing manufacturing costs.
  • Design and implement processes for new product manufacturing and support new product manufacturing plans.
  • Utilize lean Six Sigma, time studies and statistical analysis for direction for improvement of production methods. Initiate procedural changes resulting from time studies or statistical analysis.
  • Project management on cycle time improvement projects.
  • Interact cross-functionally with all groups on functional issues related to manufacturing engineering and automation of machinery.
  • Interacts cross-functionally with all groups on functional issues related to product manufacturability and quality.
  • Support for developing new BOMs and routers as well as analyzing existing BOMs and routers for cost improvements
  • Support procedures that define requirements for sampling, testing, and inspection of work in process. Provides guidance and resolutions to manufacturing and testing issues and discrepancies.
  • Other duties as assigned by department manager.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of manufacturing process flow concepts and Takt/cycle times
  • Six Sigma certification and lean Six Sigma philosophy
  • Data analysis skills
  • Project management skills
  • Some experience with Autocad or Solidworks
  • Familiar with basic robotic movement concepts and capacity

Professional:

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office suite to prepare reports, procedures and presentations.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 principles.

Personal:

  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment; focus on the critical path; exert positive influence on non-staff to gain support for process changes and automation projects (through personal enthusiasm, drive, communication, negotiation, training).
  • Self-awareness (vision, communication style, motivation, personal and professional goals). Strong written/verbal communications skills, comfortable with speaking to groups.

Education:
Applicant should have an Mechanical or Industrial Engineering degree with 2 to 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Working Conditions & Safety Concerns:
Combination of office and manufacturing environments. General manufacturing safety practices will be followed when working in those areas.
