Summary:
The Lower School Co-Teacher is a committed Sacred Heart educator who collaborates with the lead faculty in educating Duchesne’s lower school students.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create an emotionally responsive, caring, positive, and accepting environment that is supportive of the individual development of each child and family
- Take attendance daily
- Teach the class when asked and/or in the absence of the lead faculty
- Work with individual students, on an as needed basis, in all areas of the curriculum
- Prepare class activities and project materials
- Work with other grade levels for planning purposes
- Research lesson ideas and activities to enhance instruction
- Distribute and record information sent from the office, as well as student work
- Supervise young children and ensure a safe and loving environment including the ability to monitor and respond to all events going on in the classroom, outdoor play areas, and other areas of the campus
- Split playground and lunch duties with lead teacher and as assigned by the Division Head
- Be available to substitute in other classes as necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Education/Prior Experience/Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree
- Teacher certification preferred but not required
- High level of competence using technology
- Experience in a PreK – 12 environments, preferably in independent schools.

Upon Hiring:
- Successful completion of criminal offender record information and sexual offender registry information checks
- Completion of CMG Safe Environment Training.
- Current CPR certification

- Comply with the policies and procedures as articulated in the faculty and staff handbook.
- Authentically engage in the school’s self-reflection process that requires written goals and measured progress towards them.
