Description

  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging French language lessons that promote communication skills, cultural understanding, and joyful exploration of language for early learners.
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs, language proficiency levels, and interests.
  • Plan, organize, and lead classroom activities designed to promote academic, social, emotional, and linguistic development in a supportive and engaging learning environment.
  • Foster a love of language and culture through storytelling, songs, movement, games, and hands-on experiences that are developmentally appropriate for Lower School students.
  • Create an emotionally responsive, caring, and accepting environment that supports the individual development of each child and family.
  • Supervise young children and ensure a safe and loving environment, including the ability to monitor and respond to events at all times in the classroom, outdoor play areas, and other areas of the campus.
  • Collaborate with the World Language department and colleagues to support an interdisciplinary approach to teaching where possible, incorporating French language into classroom projects and school life.
  • Attend staff meetings, serve on committees as required, and actively seek and attend relevant professional development opportunities.
  • Evaluate each student’s growth and performance through observation, assessment, and documentation.
  • Provide constructive feedback to parents through conferences, emails, and regular communication.
  • Prepare and distribute report cards online, with narrative comments that reflect each student’s progress and language development.

Minimum Education/Prior Experience/Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Teaching certificate
  • High level of competence using technology
  • Experience teaching in a PreK-12 environment, preferably in independent schools

  • Empathetic and responsive to the developmental and emotional needs of young children and their families.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team and contribute positively to a school community.

Upon Hiring

  • Successful completion of criminal offender record information and sexual offender registry information checks.
  • Successful completion of CMG Safe Environment Training.
  • Current CPR certification.

  • Maintain professional credentials and complete required training. Participate in and provide documentation for at least one professional development opportunity per year in addition to those required and provided by the school.  
  • Respect the confidentiality of the school, its employees, students, and families. 
  • Comply with the policies and procedures as articulated in the faculty and staff handbook. 
  • Authentically engage in the school’s self-reflection process that requires written goals and measured progress towards them.
