Position Title: | Human Resources Generalist |
Summary of Role: | The HR Generalist will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities, helping to plan and administer important people initiatives, such as recruiting/staffing, payroll, compensation, benefits and leave administration (FMLA, Workers’ Comp, ADA). |

Travel: | This role will be based in the Houston Corporate Office and may require infrequent domestic travel. |

1. Key Accountabilities
> Serve as primary payroll administrator, including but not limited to working with people managers to reconcile electronic timecards before the transmittal period, processing payroll, distributing hard-copy payroll checks to the villages prior to payday.
> Partners closely with the Director of Human Resources to prepare and distribute HR and/or payroll-related reports as necessary
> Maintain record retention of payroll and related reports in accordance with retention requirements
> Interprets and administers paid/unpaid leave programs and policies in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, STD, LTD, Workers’ Comp, etc.)
> Coordinates and organizes all leave applications and ensures that HIPAA and Employee Privacy guidelines are closely monitored and effectively executed; coordinates various types of medical-related leave
> Processes FMLA applications and guides employees on the FMLA process; tracks FMLA hours in payroll system when applicable.
> Responds to employee requests for reasonable accommodations under the ADA; facilities reasonable accommodations as approved
> Works closely with staff to ensure that all relevant completed medical documentation is submitted for timely review. Maintains appropriate contact with all associates on leave and coordinates all aspects of return to work for associates on leave
> Partners closely with the Director of Human Resources on all leave cases and workers’ compensation claims, return to work modifications, etc.
> Partners closely with the Director of Human Resources to ensure unemployment claims are processed within prescribed timeframe and per state law requirements
> Serve as back-up to the Director of Human Resources with ordering criminal background checks and pre-employment drug screenings; track status and communicate findings
> Monitors the completion of onboarding documents and provides the Director of Human Resources with a daily I9 status update.
> Assists in maintenance of employee files and records in electronic and paper form
> Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database as needed
> Provide support with special HR projects, employee engagement and employee/company events
> Coordinates work orders with building management to secure office and parking passes for corporate employees.
> Related HR duties as assigned
> Works closely with the Director of Human Resources to monitor internal processes to ensure compliance with prevailing multi-state, local and federal legislation pertaining to payroll, taxes, safety and health, equality, employment, and privacy.
> Supports the Director of Human Resources with documenting and updating all HR related processes and SOPs.
> Assists the Director of Human Resources with the completion of internal audits

3. Experience & Qualifications Required
| 4-7 years of experience in an HR Generalist role with an emphasis on payroll processing and benefits administration |
| Broad understanding of core HR disciplines, including HR administration, medical leave administration, recruiting, payroll and more |
| Experience responding to unemployment claims (multi-state) |
Bachelor degree in related field or equivalent years of experience HR Certification (preferred)
