The Human Resources Business Partner performs a variety of critical functions for the organization. This role will support and often drive employment functions/programs critical to recruiting, retaining and developing top level talent within our organization. Uses working knowledge of the business to provide HR support and guidance. Partners directly with business leaders to define and execute HR strategies that align with business objectives and key initiatives with a strong sense of service and a high track record of delivering quality support, this role will help support Blackstone’s strength, growth trajectory, and exceptional workplace culture.
Responsibilities
- Establish and develop influential partnerships with business leaders across our various departments to drive the achievement of strategic business goals.
- Contribute to the identification of people priorities and activities that flow from the business strategy and enhance overall organizational effectiveness.
- Consult with leaders on solutions to improve the effectiveness of their business through diagnosis of people process or system gaps.
- Champions HR as a service/support center and believes in building a service-focused HR model through responsive, engaging, creative and functional solutions in a timely manner.
- Provide ongoing documentation s it relates to workplace changes and updates in relation to changes to initial employee agreement.
- Partner with relevant executives and business leaders to collaboratively engage in impactful strategies to improve and enhance the employee experience at Blackstone.
- Support full-cycle recruitment activities including but not limited to job description creation & maintenance, circulating job postings to our internal HRIS & external sites, conducting candidate pre-screens, coordinating reference & certification checks, & drafting offers of employment.
- Providing coaching and support for all matters pertaining to employee performance, working conditions, team dynamics, internal employee movement, organizational structure, change management, and other "people centered" issues through normal business activities.
- Coordinate and support new hire on-boarding and utilize our HRIS (Bamboo HR) to ensure we have all relevant payroll & corresponding paperwork.
- Coordinate a respectful off-boarding process that supports an effective transition for both the employee and the organization will include but not limited to exit interviews, asset collection, final paperwork settlement, removal from existing internal systems and other duties as the situation requires.
- Facilitate the enrollment of new employees into our Health, Dental, Insurance, & 401(k) programs.
- Be available to support & address any employment concerns or opportunities both internally & with prospective employees.
- Lead or support an internal workplace investigation that will include witness/incident statements, investigation procedures as identified by the executive team, and appropriate documentation & follow-up for all parties in line with existing Blackstone practices.
- Maintain accurate, up to date and complete employee files (electronic and archives) and conduct annual audits of critical information & documentation.
- Working with divisional administrative & operational colleagues to ensure we maintain employee training records including safety certifications, expiry, and recertification date tracking, training registrations, and ensure training certificates are received for employee records, etc.
- Generate and distribute HR reports as requested.
- Support the implementation of all human resource/culture department projects and initiatives. This may include a variety of initiatives that support our internal work culture, contribute to our broader physical community with partnerships at local food banks or initiatives to build a cohesive team, reinforce corporate culture and support the communities where we live and work.
- Assist in the administration of employee programs, such as community & culture development, benefits, and disability programs.
- Update employee resources through SharePoint and other related communications as required.
- On an ongoing basis, identifies and recommends opportunities for process improvement, program development, and other initiatives that positively contribute to improved employee experience.
- Champions the employee experience across Blackstone through development, inclusion, diversity, respect, accountability, adaptability etc.
Education & Experience
- Post-Secondary education in Human Resources (preferred)
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a Business Partner role and 5+ years in a HR role
- Holds or is working towards a HR designation (preferred)
- Experience using HR Software including HRIS & LMS
- Exemplary writing and editing skills
- Proficient with Microsoft office (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Experience with US Labor law (Federal or State level) considered a strong asset

- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with a wide range of individuals in a wide range of situations, which often require tact, diplomacy, and discretion
