Located in Houston, TX Morales Beverage Group seeks a Human Resources Business Partner - Benefits, Leave & Payroll. We have a competitive compensation package with a wide range of benefits for full-time employees.
Reporting to the Head of HR, the Human Resources Business Partner – Benefits, Leave & Payroll (HRBP-BLP) serves as a strategic partner to MBG’s staff and leadership team, primarily managing the administration of benefits, leave of absence and payroll processes. The HRBP-BLP requires a deep understanding of employment law, human resources, payroll, benefits and compliance. The HRBP-BLP will establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and members of management, providing assistance in the implementation of MBG initiatives.
The HRBP-BLP acts as liaison to multiple departments and entities by collaborating with MBG staff and leadership in the execution of MBG HR programs that optimize effectiveness and efficiency. Additionally, this position is a crucial player in the management of MBG’s human resources day-to-day operations. The HRBP-BLP serves as a backup to the Human Resources Business Partner – The New Employee Experience (HRBP-NEE) in times of absence or unavailability.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll Administration
- Coach and train supervisors on how to submit an accurate and timely pay file
- Prepare and process pay files in a timely manner, according to Paylocity’s timeline
- Administer employee deduction and deferral administration including benefits and garnishments
- Management of employer benefit contributions, reimbursements, and expense reports in payroll
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations that impact payroll
- Coach and mentor staff on payroll best practices, answer questions, and assist with changes
- Flag unlawful or unusual items or trends in time and attendance tracking or paid time off portals
- Collaborate with leaders to identify strengths and weaknesses then implement change to streamline processes
- Deliver payroll reports to SharePoint folder
- Provide and explain annual total compensation statements to employees
Payroll Tax Administration
- Payroll taxes (federal, state, and local) withheld each pay run and ensure tax payments happen
- All local, county, state and federal tax account creation and management (this applies for new employees in any state not already part of payroll)
- Review and file the quarterly tax packages in SharePoint
- Ensure Form 941 quarterly and Form 940 at the end of each year are filed properly
- Ensure Paylocity processes and files W-2 & 1099
- Ensure New Hire Reporting occurs
Additional Human Resources Responsibilities
- Leave of Absence Administration: Administer and oversee all leave of absence programs, including family medical leave, non-medical, parental, military, ADA, disability, worker’s compensation and other programs. See supplemental document for full details.
- Paid time off holiday and accrual management
- EEO-1 Reporting
- Respond to Unemployment Insurance claims, Inform Head of HR of hearings

Benefits Administration
- ACA Reporting, and all government reporting
- COBRA Administration
- Annual retirement plan testing and reporting support
- Administration of 401(k) plan
- Process 401(k) payroll files on or before each payday
- Process HSA (Health Savings Account) employee deferrals on or before each payday
- Hold multiple open enrollment meetings via webinar and in-person in advance of benefits enrollment
- Ensure benefit book and one-pager is current
- Verify deductions in payroll
- Reconcile statements, ensuring staff count and changes are accurate in premiums

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- Bilingual professional with fluency in Spanish and English, highly preferred
- SHRM-CP, aPHR, or higher required; MGB will sponsor training materials and test expenses with a requirement to pass the exam and obtain certification within 6 months.
- 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources preferred
- Knowledge of the industry preferred
- Strong PC application skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to manage multiple projects effectively and professionally
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to interact across teams in a fast-paced environment
- Financial understanding and acumen
- Must be proactive, resourceful, and efficient
- This position requires attendance at local meetings and occasional out-of-town travel
This position would be in office, Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm.
