The Director of Human Resources at El Centro de Corazón leads HR operations for a mission driven Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving diverse communities. This position is responsible for creating and fostering a stable workplace environment that is high-performing, compliant, and fulfilling to support both clinical and administrative staff.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
- Partner with the Executive Leadership Team to align HR strategies with organizational goals.
- Foster a culture of employee engagement and satisfaction across all departments.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on sensitive employee matters, maintaining objectivity and confidentiality.
Recruitment & Retention
- Lead recruitment efforts for clinical and non-clinical roles, including collaboration with staffing agencies.
- Develop onboarding and orientation programs tailored to FQHC operations.
- Implement retention strategies that support long-term employee satisfaction and growth.
Benefits & Compensation
- Administer employee benefits, including annual renewals, retirement plans and open enrollment.
- Manage payroll processes and ensure compliance with wage and labor laws, and alignment with federal grant requirements
- Conduct market analysis and maintain salary structures aligned with FQHC benchmarks.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with HR-related regulations including FMLA, ADA, OSHA, and credentialing requirements.
- Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and the Employee Handbook.
- Oversee Workers Compensation claims and leave management.
-Actively participates in mitigating enterprise risk in employee/employment relations.
Training & Development
- Coordinate staff training programs, including compliance and leadership development.
- Support continuing education and credentialing for licensed and/or certified staff.
HR Operations
- Supervise the HR team and oversee daily operations.
- Maintain accurate job descriptions and personnel records.
- Monitor and report on HR metrics and trends.
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, including 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience in a healthcare or FQHC setting strongly preferred.
- Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills, especially in the areas of conflict resolution and building high-performing teams.
