Job Summary
Join a leading academic medical center as a CVICU - CVIMU Nurse Practitioner, where you will provide high-quality care to critically ill patients. This role involves working in a high-acuity environment with a focus on heart failure populations, including post-op cardiac surgery and transplant patients. Responsibilities and Duties
- Night shift.
- Provide comprehensive patient care through assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and in-hospital follow-up in collaboration with the attending physician.
- Manage critically ill heart failure patients including VV/VA ECMO, LVAD, heart and lung transplants, and post-op cardiac surgery.
- Perform advanced procedures such as arterial/central line placement, intubations, chest tube removal, and thoracentesis.
- Round with interdisciplinary teams and collaborate on patient care plans.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and resources.
- Participate in clinical guideline development, quality improvement initiatives, and research activities.
- Serve as a mentor and resource for less experienced staff while promoting professional growth.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Required
- Strong clinical decision-making and priority setting skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and patient education skills.
- Proficiency in advanced procedures relevant to critical care.
Education / Professional Experience
- Master's degree in Nursing with certification by the American Nurse Credentialing Center or equivalent.
- 2+ years of ICU-RN or NP critical care experience required.
- Experience with cardiology and heart failure populations required.
Licenses / Certifications
- Current State of Texas license to practice professional nursing.
- MSN-AGACNP certification required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
