The Cloud and Systems Administrator (Mid-Level) is responsible for the day-to-day administration, monitoring, and support of Heath Consultants’ cloud-first infrastructure, primarily within Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, while continuing to support required hybrid on-premises systems.

This role is primarily operational and execution focused. The administrator works independently on routine and moderately complex tasks, follows established architecture and standards, and escalates design, capacity, and complex issues to senior engineers or leadership as appropriate.

Approximately 60–70 percent of this role is focused on cloud platforms, with 30–40 percent supporting hybrid and on-prem infrastructure such as Active Directory, VMware, storage, and backup systems. The role supports ongoing cloud adoption and operational stability without owning platform strategy or architecture.

Candidates MUST be local to the Houston, TX area( Near Hobby Airport) for the interview process and work environment. 

Key Responsibilities:

Cloud Operations (Primary Focus)

 • Administer Microsoft Azure resources including virtual machines, storage accounts, VNets, NSGs, and Azure Backup
 • Perform routine cloud operations such as provisioning, patching, scaling, and monitoring
 • Support Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Teams
 • Monitor Azure services using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics
 • Respond to cloud incidents and alerts according to documented procedures and SLAs

Hybrid and On-Prem Infrastructure Support (Secondary Focus)

 • Support on-prem Active Directory and Group Policy administration
 • Assist with VMware host and cluster operations
 • Support Nimble storage and Rubrik backup platforms
 • Perform scheduled patching and maintenance for on-prem systems
 • Escalate complex infrastructure issues as needed

Identity and Access Management

 • Administer Azure AD and hybrid identity user and group objects
 • Support Conditional Access, MFA, and RBAC policies
 • Maintain health of directory synchronization and hybrid identity services
 • Assist with SSO integrations for SaaS applications

Monitoring, Reporting, and Operational Health

 • Monitor cloud and hybrid systems for availability and performance
 • Validate backup success and assist with restore requests
 • Contribute data to weekly and monthly operational reports
 • Identify recurring operational issues and report trends

Backup, Recovery, and Continuity

 • Monitor Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery operations
 • Support Rubrik backup monitoring and restore validation
 • Participate in disaster recovery testing activities
 • Maintain and update recovery documentation

Security and Configuration Support

 • Assist with enforcing Azure security baselines and NSGs
 • Review security alerts from Defender and Azure monitoring tools
 • Support SSL certificate renewals and expiration tracking
 • Follow established security and compliance procedures

Automation and Tooling Support

 • Execute and maintain existing PowerShell automation scripts
 • Assist with basic scripting for operational tasks and reporting
 • Identify manual processes that may benefit from automation

Application and Platform Support

 • Support infrastructure components for business applications hosted in Azure or on-prem
 • Assist with SQL Server operational tasks such as backups, patching, and monitoring
 • Coordinate with application owners during incidents or maintenance

Ticketing, Documentation, and Collaboration

 • Resolve assigned cloud and systems tickets within SLA using the ticketing system
 • Escalate complex issues with clear troubleshooting notes
 • Maintain SOPs, runbooks, and system documentation
 • Collaborate with service desk, security, and network teams

Cost Awareness

 • Follow cloud cost management guidelines
 • Identify idle or underutilized resources and report findings
 • Implement approved cleanup or optimization actions


Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Education & Certification

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Microsoft Azure certifications such as AZ-900 or AZ-104 preferred

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in cloud or systems administration
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365
  • Exposure to hybrid environments involving VMware and on-prem Active Directory

Technical Skills

   • Working knowledge of Azure compute, storage, networking, and identity
   • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration
   • Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy
   • Basic to intermediate PowerShell scripting
• Strong troubleshooting and operational skills 

Soft Skills

   • Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills.

   • Ability to manage competing priorities in a 24x7x365 environment.

   • Self-starter, collaborative, and adaptable to changing requirements.

   • Able to work independently on assigned tasks

   • Willing to learn and grow toward more advanced cloud responsibilities


Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Dependability & Flexibility: The role requires flexibility to work weekends, evenings, nights, and holidays as needed to support business operations.

24/7/365 IT Operations: Heath’s IT department provides around-the-clock support to employees. Assistance is available through the proper channels depending on the situation:

  • Normal Working Hours: Standard business hours coverage.
  • Expanded Working Hours: Extended coverage for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Emergency Support: Critical support available outside of normal or expanded hours to address urgent issues that impact business continuity.
  • Extended Sitting: Ability to remain seated for prolonged periods while working on a computer or related equipment.
  • Manual Dexterity: Sufficient hand and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and handle other IT components.
  • Cable Inspection: Occasional inspection and handling of cables located in floors, ceilings, or other areas requiring mobility.
  • Lifting & Transporting Equipment: Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy objects, such as desktop computers, servers, and peripherals.
