Job Goal:

The Assistant Director of Marketing supports the Director of Marketing by leading the execution of Region 4’s marketing strategy, supervising daily department operations, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, multi-channel campaigns. This role translates strategic goals into actionable plans, provides creative and operational oversight across all marketing functions, and executes priority campaign components as needed. The Assistant Director collaborates closely with the Marketing Coordinator and marketing specialists to maintain alignment, consistency, and excellence in all deliverables, positioning Region 4 as a trusted partner of choice for districts and external stakeholders.

 

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field required
  • Master’s degree preferred

 

Experience:

  1. 8 of progressive experience in marketing, communications, or digital strategy
  2. 3 years of supervisory or team-lead experience
  3. Experience developing and executing multi-channel campaigns at scale
  4. Experience supporting cross-functional teams and managing stakeholders
  5. Digital marketing certifications preferred (Google, HubSpot, Meta Blueprint, etc.)

Special Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Strong strategic planning skills with the ability to translate organizational goals into actionable marketing initiatives
  2. Advanced understanding of multi-channel marketing, including web, email, social media, digital advertising, and event marketing
  3. Expertise in reviewing, approving, and refining marketing deliverables including copy, graphics, digital assets, and web content
  4. Strong leadership and team-building skills with experience coaching and developing marketing staff
  5. Proficiency in project and workflow management platforms (Wrike, Monday.com, Asana) and social media management tools such as Sprout Social, Hootsuite, or similar
  6. Ability to manage complex campaigns, prioritize competing deadlines, and ensure high-quality execution
  7. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data for optimization and reporting

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the execution of Region 4’s marketing strategy by translating the Director of Marketing’s vision into actionable campaign plans, workflows, and deliverables that strengthen visibility, engagement, and participation across service lines.
  2. Oversee day-to-day operations of the Marketing Department by prioritizing incoming requests, aligning workload across the team, resolving barriers, and ensuring projects move efficiently from intake to completion.
  3. Supervise and develop marketing staff by providing leadership, coaching, and performance support to ensure high-quality work, operational efficiency, and ongoing professional growth.
  4. Conduct regular team check-ins to monitor progress, provide direction, and maintain alignment on priorities, deadlines, and expectations.
  5. Direct and review all marketing deliverables by providing creative and strategic oversight for copy, graphics, digital advertising, web updates, email campaigns, social content, and major marketing assets prior to Director approval.
  6. Establish and maintain standards for quality, accuracy, and responsiveness across all marketing deliverables and workflows.
  7. Lead major marketing campaigns and initiatives by owning campaign development for high-impact efforts, including service-line launches, conferences, escWorks, PrintWorks, and The Exchange, and by establishing themes, messaging, and campaign structure.
  8. Execute priority campaign components by developing key messaging, campaign frameworks, or digital content and stepping into hands-on execution when workload, timelines, or project complexity require senior-level involvement.
  9. Ensure multi-channel alignment and quality by maintaining consistent standards across web, email, social media, digital advertising, and print, ensuring all deliverables meet brand, accessibility, strategic, and organizational guidelines.
  10. Collaborate with internal teams and leadership to ensure marketing initiatives, timelines, and deliverables align with program needs and organizational goals.
  11. Guide data-driven optimization by reviewing analytics from digital, email, social, and web channels and recommending improvements to enhance campaign performance.
  12. Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance collaboration, and improve operational efficiency across the marketing function.
  13. Develop and refine departmental procedures, playbooks, and best practices to support consistency, scalability, and continuous improvement.
  14. Support departmental and organizational planning by contributing to annual planning, process development, workflow enhancements, and the creation of templates and systems that strengthen the efficiency and impact of the Marketing Department.
  15. Perform all other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  1. In coordination with the department director, establish clear expectations, set goals, and provide regular feedback to promote accountability and performance improvement
  2. In coordination with the department director, manage team workloads and project timelines to ensure priorities are met and deliverables are completed with high quality.
  3. Supervise and support assigned staff, including onboarding, training, and performance management
  4. Responsible for performance evaluations, coaching, and staff development
  5. Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing workplace
  6. Ensure compliance with Region 4 policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal guidelines

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors/ Mental Demands:

Frequent use of standard office equipment; prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; repetitive hand motions (keyboarding and use of mouse); occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may work prolonged and irregular hours; occasional statewide travel; work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under pressure.
