Primary Purpose:
To maintain the financial records of the District in strict compliance with TEA’S Financial Accounting and Reporting Resource Guide and generally accepted accounting procedures.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- CPA or MBA preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of governmental accounting and auditing principles established by the Governmental Accounting System Board (GASB)
- Knowledge of computerized accounting systems
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, evaluate accounting problems, develop data, and recommend improved procedures
- Ability to use software to develop complex accounting reports, spreadsheets, and databases
- Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
- Five (5) years experience in public fund accounting preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Accounting
- Assist CFO in developing annual budgets.
- Submit MAC and SHARS reports.
- Assist Controller in maintaining a complete and systematic set of records of all financial transactions of the District.
- Manage the fixed asset system from maintaining procedures to entering new assets, disposing of assets in the system, transfers and changes, and initiating the annual inventory process.
- Prepare all journal entries of investment transactions.
- Prepare journal entries for the nutrition department transactions and reallocations.
- Review and record monthly donations report.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly investment reports.
- Prepare cash flow projections on a quarterly basis.
- Reconcile bank statements monthly.
- Create online products for schools’ fundraising activities.
Administration
- Participate on the District Investment Committee.
- Assist Controller in maintaining compliance with all arbitrage regulations.
- Work with administrators, principals, directors, and staff regarding budget and accounting issues.
Records and Reports
- Work closely with the MIS Department in establishing deadlines for financial reports.
- Prepare timely audit schedules and financial statements according to federal, state, and GASB standards.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required, including auditable records and financial statements.
Other
- Handle all questions and requests in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

2025-2026 Salary Range Min. $84,560 Mid. $99,433 Max. $114,303 (Based on previous experience)
Salaries are determined by the number of completed and eligible years of service at an accredited school.
Salary is based on 235 days. If working less than 235 days, the salary will be less.
