Water Treatment Operator

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year

Position summary:

We are seeking a Water Treatment Operator to lead the startup, commissioning, and pilot operation of the Corpus Christi desalination plant. This role ensures systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements. The operator will provide operational expertise, developing the operator team, and establishing procedures that maximize plant performance throughout the pilot study and potential long-term operation.

Required Education:

Technical degree or bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering

OR

Specialized technical training in water treatment operations with hands‑on experience

Required Certifications:

• Texas Water Operator License– Class C or higher.
• Completion of a TCEQ Executive Director–approved training course specific to the operation and maintenance of Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems.
• Safety training related to hazardous chemical handling, including OSHA Hazard Communication (HAZCOM) or equivalent training applicable to water treatment plant operations.

Required Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in water or wastewater treatment plant operations, including hands-on experience with startup, stabilization, and optimization of treatment systems.

Technical Knowledge:

• Operation of Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) systems.
• Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems.
• Multimedia filtration systems.
• Chemical dosing systems.
• Screw press sludge dewatering.
• Water sampling and jar testing.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and process diagrams.
• Monitoring and optimization of water treatment processes.
• Safe handling of treatment chemicals and compliance with environmental regulations.
• Preparation of operational logs, reports, and plant documentation.
