Starr Insurance Companies is seeking a Senior Underwriter in its Financial Lines Division, focusing on Private and Not-for-Profit Accounts.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for pursuing new business and managing an existing book of renewal business in our Management Liability portfolio focusing on privately held and nonprofit companies, which includes Directors & Officers, Employment Practices, Fiduciary Liability and Crime coverage lines.
  • Underwrite, rate, and service new and renewal submissions and participate in client meetings as required.
  • Develop and maintain agency and broker relationships with retailers and wholesalers across the west region, meeting department service standards.   
  • Negotiate with brokers within the limits of delegated authority and in accordance with established underwriting standards to achieve profit objectives.
  • Develop a working knowledge of other Starr products to facilitate cross sale of those products where applicable.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of Private and/or Nonprofit Company D&O underwriting or related insurance experience
  • Experience and relationships with Financial Lines brokers in the western territories preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Detail oriented; Attention to quality/accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workflow efficiently
  • Professional demeanor in verbal and written communications internally and externally
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and similar applications
