QUALIFICATIONS:

RESET Teacher/Special Education Qualifications:

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university.
  2. Valid teacher certification in Special Education and PPR (Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities).
  3. Demonstrated successful experience in working with special needs students preferred.
  4. Knowledge of special education law.
  5. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Three (3) years of successful experience as a special education teacher preferred. 

  

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Probationary/Term Contract: 187 days

 

SALARY:

Pay Grade T60 (Teacher Classification) as approved by the Board of Trustees

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Works with campus staff to implement academic, behavioral and social-emotional strategies and interventions which result in positive student behavior.
  2. Effectively manages behavior of students assigned to the RESET program.
  3. Assists in the development and implementing of Behavior Intervention Plans and academic and behavior IEPs for students.
  4. Implements all elements of the RESET program, including academic and behavioral guidance, data collection and monitoring, student reinforcement and attending trips to purchase student items for the RESET classroom.
  5. Provides support and assistance to staff with students who demonstrate chronic behavioral needs and are not served in the RESET program.
  6. Provides follow-up training for campus personnel on implementing the RESET program, as needed.
  7. Attends staffings to provide input at IEP meetings for all students served in the RESET program.
  8. Serves as a resource to the campus in identifying and implementing effective research-based strategies that lead to positive behavior outcomes for students.
  9. Participates in district-wide staff development and training in the areas of RESET and Special Education.
  10. Provides instruction to students served in the RESET program and maintains a collaborative relationship with general education staff.
  11. Maintains portfolios that are data-driven for all students served through the RESET program.
  12. Provides on-going communication with parents of students utilizing RESET documentation forms.
  13. Utilizes the Review 360 program to chart and monitor RESET student behaviors and submits to district personnel.
  14. Maintains classroom logs and monitoring sheets as documentation of students served in the RESET classroom.
  15. Provides leadership and direction to RESET paraprofessionals and works collaboratively for the success of students.
  16. Obtains and maintains current certification in CPI Nonviolent Crisis Prevention Institute.
  17. Demonstrates a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expecting the same from colleagues.
  18. Reliable; demonstrates the technical knowledge for effective handling of assignment; effectiveness in responsibility; knowledge and understanding of school district policy, practices and procedures.
  19. Uses good judgment, self-regulation and the ability to work with challenging, potentially escalated students in an empathetic and constructive way; stays current on trauma-informed practices.
  20. Is self-starting and self-demanding; works without supervision; works toward self-improvement; continues to grow professionally.
  21. Demonstrates both a constructive and creative attitude toward the job; gives and receives constructive criticism in a positive way; works with students with emotional, behavioral and academic difficulties; supports decisions and policies of supervisors.
  22. Performs other duties as assigned.

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals, and other instructional equipment

Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Frequent walking

Lifting: May require regular heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities, control behavior through physical restraint, assist non-ambulatory students, and lift and move adaptive and other classroom equipment; may work prolonged or irregular hours

Environment: Exposure to biological hazards. Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
