About the Role
The Staff Auditor – Compliance Audit supports the audit process for audit engagements designed to add value, improve operations, and support the County Auditor's statutory responsibilities. The role combines independent fieldwork with teamwork, client interaction, and critical thinking.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Compliance Audit Supervisor, the Staff Auditor will:
- Execute audit engagements in adherence with the Global Internal Audit Standards, Local Government Code, applicable regulations, and county policies.
- Serve as a liaison between the audit team and client departments, building professional respectful relationships through regular interaction.
- Perform fieldwork activities, including audit testing and client interviews.
- Work with the audit team on multiple concurrent engagements.
- Participate in the development of audit observations and recommendations with root‑cause remediation.
- Draft concise, timely, fact‑based audit reports.
- Maintain strong judgment, discretion, and confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Complete administrative tasks such as daily check‑ins, email review, and planning assigned work.
- Provide support on special projects or administrative assignments as needed.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance or related field.
- 0-2 years of relevant work experience.
- Basic knowledge of internal auditing.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, with basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and critical-thinking ability.
- Ability to plan, organize, and follow through on tasks in a timely manner.
