Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Property Accountant with experience in fixed assets and lease accounting to join our team!

 

 Role Summary:

The Property Staff Accountant II role is responsible for supporting the Property Accounting function by maintaining of records and accounts of all company fixed assets and operating leases and ensuring that all balances are properly reflected in Buckeye’s financial statements, in addition to participating in other accounting projects as assigned.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • General Ledger: Responsible for monthly/quarterly close procedures, such as preparing journal entries as well as:
    • Recording assets in general ledger in compliance with GAAP
    • Recording any changes in property plant and equipment schedules
    • Preparing monthly reconciliations
    • Preparing monthly and quarterly financial packages
  • JD Edwards: Recording all fixed assets into JD Edwards fixed asset system.
  • Reporting: Providing asset reports to various departments as scheduled and upon request.
  • Audits: Performing audit of payments to ensure proper classification.
  • Process Improvements: Drive process improvements and automation to improve efficiencies within the group
  • FERC: Preparation of periodic FERC financial statements and assuring all accounting records are prepared and maintained in accordance with required standards (GAAP, FERC).
  • Project Closeouts: SME for Property project closeout process.
  • And other duties as assigned.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Relevant Experience.
  • 3+ years related experience is required
  • Fixed assets accounting or equivalent experience preferred
  • Lease or FERC accounting experience preferred but not required
  • Significant experience utilizing MS Office to perform accounting related tasks is required.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills is preferred
  • Experience with fixed asset systems such as JD Edwards is preferred.

 

Other Skills, Attributes and Abilities:

  • In order to succeed in this position, the incumbent must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills coupled with excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • This is a detail-oriented position that requires a great deal of accuracy.
  • Strict deadlines and timelines must be adhered to with regards to reporting requirements. Incumbents must be able to multi-task and prioritize work responsibilities.

  • This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards.
  • This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • This position requires compliance with all personnel policies.

 

 Physical & Safety Requirements:

  • This person must perform duties that require considerable use of arms and extended hours of sitting.
  • Required use of all ergonomically safe equipment in performance of job.
  • Normal office environment
