Position Overview:
We are seeking a Sr. Tax Accountant with extensive experience in NetSuite and Avalara to lead our in-house tax compliance function. This role will be responsible for preparing and filing multi-state sales tax returns, managing state and federal income tax filings, and supporting year-end reviews in coordination with our external CPA firm. The right candidate will bring a hands-on approach to managing tax data, processes, and compliance across a dynamic, high-volume business.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and file sales tax returns in all applicable jurisdictions using Avalara integrated with NetSuite
  • Monitor nexus thresholds and ensure compliance with changing state tax laws
  • Prepare and file federal and state income tax returns, including quarterly and annual tax estimates
  • Manage and file property tax returns and ensure timely payment of property tax obligations across jurisdictions
  • Maintain detailed records of all filings, payments, and correspondence
  • Respond to tax notices and support state and local tax audits
  • Collaborate with the CPA firm on year-end tax review and financial audit
  • Support strategic tax planning initiatives, including identifying tax savings opportunities and assessing tax implications of business decisions
  • Identify opportunities for tax savings and process improvements
  • Analyze transactional data from NetSuite to ensure accurate tax application and reporting
Requirements:
  • Extensive (5+ years) hands-on experience with NetSuite and Avalara is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in sales and income tax compliance
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state sales and income tax regulations
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in a deadline-driven environment
