Position Overview:

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design, planning, and implementation of various mechanical systems and equipment. You will oversee the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of systems including heat, gas, water, and steam. Your role will involve ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with legal, contractual, and project management standards, with a focus on health and safety.
  • Manage package ownership and review processes for equipment such as heat exchangers, pressure vessels, boilers, and compressors.
  • Evaluate and comment on mechanical designs to ensure they meet operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor contractor activities and deliverables for compliance during various project phases.
  • Participate in hazard identification (HAZID) and hazard and operability studies (HAZOP).
  • Oversee factory acceptance tests (FAT) and ensure satisfactory results for critical equipment.
  • Prepare detailed purchase requests and manage procurement within authority limits.
  • Supervise revamp and maintenance activities, proposing cost-effective solutions.
  • Identify and qualify potential equipment vendors.
  • Contribute to the development of material codification systems.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support business objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the chemical industry.
  • Extensive plant experience, particularly within ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol facilities, is preferred.
  • Proven background in maintenance, reliability, and turnaround processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and process simulation tools such as Aspen.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Skilled in analyzing complex technical issues and developing engineering solutions.
