ABOUT OUR NICU 4
The purpose of the Newborn Center at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) is to provide the full spectrum of comprehensive care tending to the clinical and psychosocial needs of all neonates and their families. Texas Children’s Hospital NICU holds the distinct honor to be the first recognized Level IV NICU in The State of Texas and recognized in 2022 and 2024 as the #3 NICU in the country by US News.
NICU IV offers the highest possible level of specialized treatments as well as expert specialists for babies born prematurely or with unique health challenges. It is located on the 4th floor of the West Tower and is an open pod unit with a few private isolation rooms. The open pod unit fosters teamwork and collaboration amongst the nurses. Babies admitted to this unit may have been born at the Pavilion for Women, transferred in from other departments in our hospital, or from hospitals across Texas and beyond. A team of NICU-specialized nurses, providers, respiratory therapists, social workers, child life specialists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, music therapists, care coordinators, and pharmacists come together to care for our patients and families.
