Compensation & Additional Details

• Salary Range: $42.03 – $65.10 per hour (based on years of experience)

• Shift Differential:

  • $4.00/hour – Nights

  • $2.00/hour – Weekends

• Sign-On Bonus: Case-by-case basis

• Relocation Assistance: Case-by-case basis

• Recruitment Fee: 20% of Offered Annualized Salary

Position Overview

A premier hospital in Houston is seeking a Registered Nurse – Pediatric Cardiac ICU (CICU) to join a newly developed, high-acuity pediatric cardiac program.

This role provides direct patient care to critically ill pediatric patients with congenital heart disease and those recovering from cardiac surgery. The RN will deliver individualized, family-centered, and holistic care in a highly specialized and collaborative environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a brand-new program expected to manage 50–70 cardiac cases in its first year.

Facility Overview (Client Name Confidential)

This 420+ bed specialty hospital is dedicated to women’s and children’s health and is part of a large regional healthcare network. The facility is nationally recognized for high-risk obstetrics, neonatal services, and pediatric specialty care, including a Level IV NICU.

Unit Overview

• Pediatric patients: 1 year of age and older

• 14-bed Pediatric CICU

• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 2:1

• Brand-new cardiac surgery program

• Comprehensive 18-week training/orientation program

  • Training conducted at affiliated Texas facilities

  • Travel, room, and board covered

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.

• Care for critically ill pediatric patients with congenital heart disease and post-operative cardiac conditions.

• Develop, implement, evaluate, and document individualized plans of care.

• Maintain a safe and therapeutic clinical environment.

• Participate in cardiac service line initiatives and performance improvement activities.

• Incorporate patient and family education into all aspects of care delivery.

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license – Texas or Compact State

• Associate Degree in Nursing required

• BSN required (or enrollment within 6 months and completion within 24 months – Magnet requirement)

• Minimum 1 year of recent Pediatric ICU RN experience in an acute care hospital

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) – within 30 days of hire

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – within 6 months of hire

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – within 6 months of hire

Preferred:

• CCRN Certification

• Children’s Hospital experience

• Pediatric cardiovascular and post-operative cardiac experience
