Registered Nurse – Pediatric Cardiac ICU (CICU)
Location: Houston, TX
Schedule: Full-Time | Nights (7 PM–7 AM or 11 PM–11 AM) | Rotating Weekends
Compensation
- Salary Range: $42.03 – $65.10 per hour (commensurate with experience)
- Shift Differentials: $4.00/hr for nights | $2.00/hr for weekends
- Additional Incentives: Sign-on bonuses and relocation assistance considered on a case-by-case basis
Overview
Join a premier pediatric hospital in Texas dedicated to the care of children. This 420+ bed facility, featuring a Level IV NICU, is launching a new Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care (CICU) program. This is a rare opportunity to serve as a founding member of a specialized team providing advanced care to pediatric patients (ages 1 year and older) with congenital heart disease and post-operative cardiac needs.
All selected nurses will participate in an 18-week paid training and orientation program, held at both the Houston facility and a partnering institution, with travel, lodging, and meals fully covered.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care for critically ill pediatric patients with congenital heart disease or post-operative cardiac conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized, family-centered care plans, ensuring holistic care for patients and their families.
- Support program development by participating in Cardiac Hybrid Specialty Unit (CHSU) initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment while providing patient and family education integrated into nursing practice.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of recent Pediatric ICU (PICU) experience in an acute care setting. Preference for candidates with children’s hospital experience or CV Pedi / Pedi Post-Op backgrounds.
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing required. BSN enrollment must begin within 6 months of hire and be completed within 24 months.
- Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Certifications:
- BLS required within 30 days of hire
- ACLS and PALS required within 6 months
- CCRN preferred
