Veterans Engineering (VE) is seeking dedicated Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our interdisciplinary care teams across multiple high-acuity units. Ideal candidates are passionate about veteran-centered care and ready to serve in a fast-paced, rewarding federal healthcare environment. This role is vital in delivering both skilled nursing care and emotional support to our nation’s heroes.

Open Specialties:

  • Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)
  • Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
  • Cardiac Care Unit (CCU)
  • Emergency Room (ER)
  • Medical/Surgical Units
  • Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit
  • Spinal Cord Injury Unit (SCI)

Position Highlights:

  • Location: Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center
    2002 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, TX
  • Status: Full-time, various shifts available (including nights/weekends). Specific scheduling may vary by unit.
  • Compensation salary range vary across specialties: $ 77,251 - $112,674
  • Period of Performance: Base Period: (6-mo order) + 4 OY

 Responsibilities Include:

 

·        Deliver comprehensive nursing care using evidence-based practices.

·        Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to plan, implement, and evaluate care plans.

·        Monitor patient status and respond to changes in condition with clinical judgment.

·        Document and communicate care in compliance with VA policies and standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

·        Active, unencumbered RN license (any U.S. state).

·        Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in an acute care or specialty-specific setting (preferred).

·        BLS required; ACLS and other specialty certifications may be required depending on unit.

·        Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills.
