DESCRIPTION:
The Property Accountant is responsible for the property accounting functions within the framework of Talos Energy’s policies and procedures and in compliance of applicable regulations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will be responsible for numerous property accounting activities at Talos Energy including but not limited to:
- Tracking and recording fuel transfers and usage on offshore vessels
- Maintaining and recording the Asset Retirement Obligations schedule for liabilities assumed from defaulted working interest partners or successors in interest
- Calculating and recording monthly depletion, depreciation and amortization (“DD&A”) of oil and gas properties
- Performing quarterly Ceiling Tests to assess impairment
- Preparing and maintaining multiple account reconciliations
- Executing and revising SOX controls as needed
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 3 years of property accounting experience at an upstream oil and gas company preferred but not required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Possess strong analytical skills
- Able to perform detailed work with speed and accuracy
- Able to organize and prioritize a dynamic workload involving detailed processes and time-sensitive priorities
- Develops strong work relationships
- Communicates effectively, both orally in person and using a telephone and in writing
- Demonstrates integrity and sound judgement in handling ethical matters
- Willing to adapt to a flexible schedule and manage occasional high-demand periods
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; Experience in BOLO accounting system preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time and have use of arms and hands in repetitive motion. A fair amount of standing and walking is also required for the position
