 DESCRIPTION:

The Property Accountant is responsible for the property accounting functions within the framework of Talos Energy’s policies and procedures and in compliance of applicable regulations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will be responsible for numerous property accounting activities at Talos Energy including but not limited to:

  • Tracking and recording fuel transfers and usage on offshore vessels
  • Maintaining and recording the Asset Retirement Obligations schedule for liabilities assumed from defaulted working interest partners or successors in interest
  • Calculating and recording monthly depletion, depreciation and amortization (“DD&A”) of oil and gas properties
  • Performing quarterly Ceiling Tests to assess impairment
  • Preparing and maintaining multiple account reconciliations
  • Executing and revising SOX controls as needed

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 years of property accounting experience at an upstream oil and gas company preferred but not required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Possess strong analytical skills
  • Able to perform detailed work with speed and accuracy
  • Able to organize and prioritize a dynamic workload involving detailed processes and time-sensitive priorities
  • Develops strong work relationships
  • Communicates effectively, both orally in person and using a telephone and in writing
  • Demonstrates integrity and sound judgement in handling ethical matters
  • Willing to adapt to a flexible schedule and manage occasional high-demand periods
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; Experience in BOLO accounting system preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time and have use of arms and hands in repetitive motion. A fair amount of standing and walking is also required for the position
