Description

The Product Designer, Lead is responsible for shaping the user experience and visual design of our SaaS product offering for the maritime industry. This role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to create innovative and user-centric designs that enhance operational efficiency and drive sustainable growth. Will need to possess great communication skills, and affinity for the systems development lifecycle process and methodologies while committing to process adherence. need guidance. 

What You Will Do:

  • Lead the design process from concept to final implementation, ensuring the product meets user needs and business goals.
  • Conduct user research, create personas, and design user flows to optimize the user experience.
  • Develop visually appealing and intuitive interfaces that align with the product vision and enhance usability.
  • Create prototypes and conduct usability testing to gather feedback and iterate on designs.
  • Work closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure design feasibility and alignment with product strategy.
  • Establish and maintain design systems and guidelines to ensure consistency across the product.
  • Analyze customer feedback and usage data to inform design decisions and improvements.
  • Mentor engineering/development team and contribute to a collaborative and innovative design culture.
     

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer science or related field. Master's degree preferred. 
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in product design, with a strong portfolio showcasing UX/UI design skills. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of design principles, user-centered design methodologies, and best practices in UX/UI design.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools like InVision or Axure.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationale to stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating exceptional user experiences.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple project and/or initiatives simultaneously.  
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports directly to the Director, Product Management or another Director or Executive role.
