Superior is seeking a Paralegal β Legal Operations & Litigation Support to join our team in Houston, TX (on-site, 5 days per week) to support a dynamic, private, growth-oriented company. This role will report to the Assistant General Counsel, Global Operations and Litigation, and will be primarily responsible for supporting the day-to-day administrative and operational needs of the legal department, with secondary support for a relatively small and manageable litigation and claims portfolio.
The position is well-suited for a highly organized paralegal who enjoys building structure, managing workflows, and supporting a lean legal team in a fast-paced oilfield services environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Department Operations & Administration (Primary Focus)
- Serve as a central resource for legal department administration, including document management, tracking systems, and workflow coordination
- Maintain organized contract and matter repositories, ensuring completeness, accessibility, and version control
- Coordinate execution of documents, including signature processes and records retention
- Assist in preparing internal reports, presentations, and summaries for management
- Support development, implementation, and maintenance of legal templates, processes, and systems
- Manage departmental calendars, deadlines, and key deliverables across legal workstreams
- Provide general administrative support to the legal team, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations
Contract & Matter Tracking Support
- Assist in tracking contracts, renewals, and key obligations
- Help manage intake and triage of legal requests from business teams
- Support organization and filing of agreements and related documentation
- Maintain tracking logs and reporting tools for legal matters and requests
Litigation & Claims Support (Secondary Focus)
- Support the Assistant General Counsel in administering a limited litigation and claims docket, including tracking matters and key deadlines
- Coordinate with outside counsel on routine filings, updates, and document requests
- Assist with document collection and organization for discovery and claims processes
- Track legal spend and assist with invoice processing and budget reporting
- Maintain records of pleadings, correspondence, and settlement documentation
- Assist with administration of insurance claims and coordination with insurers and brokers
- Support internal fact gathering for incidents, claims, and disputes
- Maintain organized records of claims, indemnity matters, and related documentation
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with operations, finance, HR, and other business teams to support legal processes and requests
- Coordinate with external counsel and service providers as needed
- Provide practical, business-oriented support aligned with company priorities
Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs degree and/or paralegal certification preferred
- 5+ years of relevant experience, including law firm and/or in-house experience
- Prior in-house experience strongly preferred, ideally within oilfield services, energy, or a similarly industrial environment
- Strong organizational skills and experience managing documents, systems, and workflows
- Comfortable supporting a broad range of legal and administrative activities in a lean team
- Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential information
