The Opportunity:

  • CACI is looking for a Task Authoring Software Tool Developer to provide the Lunar Gateway Program at NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) with software skills in the development of an application for creation of executable tasks used to support autonomous operations onboard the Gateway.  This exciting position involves software design, development, test, integration, and troubleshooting of automated task generation software.
  • The Gateway in lunar orbit will support astronaut habitation and allow easy access to the lunar surface for exploration. Gateway will also provide a test bed for development of planetary exploration spacecraft technologies.
  • This position requires a self-motivated, capable person with strong verbal and written communication skills. In addition to outstanding technical expertise, the individual must be very people savvy, have strong customer relationship skills, possess a positive team-player attitude, be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise.  Finally, the most qualified candidate will be an articulate speaker able to communicate complex technical ideas in a convincing manner, must share our passion for our Nation's Space Program, and share in the excitement of developing future human-rated space vehicles.
  • This work takes place at NASA/JSC in Houston, TX, a highly stimulating and dynamic environment that is critical in human space flight and the space exploration initiative.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop features for Gateway task authoring tool.
  • Participate in requirement creation and review for tool capabilities.
  • Interface with Task Executor team on formatting task binaries.
  • Support tool verification efforts through the creation of test plans.
  • Perform integration of Task Authoring Tool components with external interfaces and interfaces to the Gateway data toolchain.
  • Support maintenance of Software Design Document and Users Guide
  • Perform troubleshooting of Task Authoring Tool discrepancies.
  • Adhere to JSC standard software process practices.

Qualifications:

Required: 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident. 
  • B.S. in Computer or Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines required.
  • Full stack developer with at least 5 years of related experience (additional experience is highly valued).
  • Experience with Java, Javascript.
  • Must be flexible, open to new challenges in a dynamic environment, and possess strong technical expertise combined with strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Must be a highly responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethic.
  • Must have highly developed coordination and organization skills.

Desired: 

  • M.S. in Computer or Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
  • Experience with UX design.
  • Experience developing single page web applications with REST back end.
  • Experience with React.js front end (TypeScript).
  • Experience with GitLab Continuous Integration (CI).
  • Experience with SQL PostgreSQL flavor.
  • Experience with CSS, Type Script, and HTML 5.
  • Experience with XML schemas and JAXB.
  • Experience with Java 21+, and Jakarta EE (TomEE implementation).
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks Junit and Karma.
  • Experience with Docker, Docker Desktop, and Docker compose.
  • Experience with NASA software tool requirements.
  • Full software development lifecycle experience.
