OBJECTIVE:
An English Language Arts (ELA) teacher instructs students in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, focusing on literature, composition, and critical analysis. Key responsibilities include creating lesson plans, implementing curriculum, assessing student progress, managing classroom behavior, and fostering a positive learning environment to improve literacy skills across various proficiency levels. Teachers are required to attend after-school meetings, training, and tutorials as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Curriculum Planning & Instruction: Develop and deliver engaging, standards-based lesson plans for reading, writing, and literature.
Skill Development: Teach grammar, vocabulary, critical thinking, and composition, tailoring methods to diverse learning styles.
Assessment & Evaluation: Grade assignments, administer tests, and monitor student progress to adjust instruction.
Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, positive, and productive learning environment.
Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with colleagues, communicate with parents regarding student performance, and participate in staff meetings.
Material Development: Utilize various literary resources and technology to enhance student learning.
