Position: Middle School ELA Teacher

OBJECTIVE:

An English Language Arts (ELA) teacher instructs students in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, focusing on literature, composition, and critical analysis. Key responsibilities include creating lesson plans, implementing curriculum, assessing student progress, managing classroom behavior, and fostering a positive learning environment to improve literacy skills across various proficiency levels. Teachers are required to attend after-school meetings, training, and tutorials as needed.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Curriculum Planning & InstructionDevelop and deliver engaging, standards-based lesson plans for reading, writing, and literature.

    Skill DevelopmentTeach grammar, vocabulary, critical thinking, and composition, tailoring methods to diverse learning styles.

    Assessment & EvaluationGrade assignments, administer tests, and monitor student progress to adjust instruction.

    Classroom ManagementMaintain a safe, positive, and productive learning environment.

    Collaboration & CommunicationCollaborate with colleagues, communicate with parents regarding student performance, and participate in staff meetings.

    Material DevelopmentUtilize various literary resources and technology to enhance student learning.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or related field.
  • Preferred: Valid Texas State Teaching License
