Primary Purpose:

The Center for Educator Success (CES) is designed to transform educator talent pipelines by partnering with districts to reimagine a comprehensive approach to educator recruitment and retention.  Reporting to the Officer of Elementary.   The Manager of Teacher Support will serve as a critical member of CES’s teacher support team, responsible for designing and delivering inspired programming.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited university
  • Texas Teacher certification
  • (Preferred) Science of Teaching Reading Certification, Reading Academy Certification

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in the Science of Teaching Reading; STR Exam or equivalent
  • Experience coaching teachers preferred
  • Excellent people skills: able to work in a diverse environment and get along with everyone

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Design and deliver professional development and coaching to teachers and leaders to retain early literacy teachers
  • Generate revenue according to annual targets.
  • Prepare teacher candidates to teach students to read by teaching the science of teaching reading coursework and test preparationTeach Coursework: Instruct courses in core teaching standards, aligned to TAC
  • Develop Resources: Collaborate with educators to design instructional materials, modules, and tools for coursework instruction
  • Collaborate with the CES team to build an impactful and sustainable program model that serves teacher candidates during years 0-3 of service.
  • Instill a passion for learning in teacher candidates by devoting time to your own professional learning and growth.
  • Generate revenue according to annual targets.
  • Ensure compliance with the state requirements for educator preparation programs regulated by the Texas Administration Code, prepare materials and documentation for audits and accreditation reviews.Utilize backward design practices to plan and develop course syllabus and coursework, incorporating updated research-based practices to ensure educator effectiveness.
  • Design, implement, and deliver coursework/test-prep, both in-person and asynchronous, that is relevant, student centered, and continuously improving based on feedback from colleagues, supervisors, and teacher candidates.
  • Diligently seek professional development to remain abreast of best practices to support adult learners.
  • Participate fully in teacher team professional learning on topics such as backward design, practice-based learning, transformational coaching, etc.
  • Serve as a Field Supervisor and coach to support the growth and development of new teachers.
  • Serve as an Advisor and coach to support the growth and development of new teachers. Attend advisee conversations bi-weekly and be prepared to share evidence candidate progress.
  • Design and deliver professional development and coaching to teachers during their duration in the certifcationof the program.
  • Offer Coaching: Provide individualized coaching and tutoring sessions grounded in exam competencies and best practices for preparation.
  • Support individual growth through calibration, coaching, feedback, and data reviews to grow in your craft as a facilitator coach and educator.
  • Maintain open, clear, collaborative, and timely communication with all stakeholders (i.e., district partners, school administrators, teacher candidates, colleagues).
  • Demonstrated ability to present confidently at conferences and professional development events, representing CES and sharing best practices in educator preparation.
  • Support Team: Assist colleagues and contribute to departmental systems and improvements as needed.
  • Field Supervision: Serve as a Clinical Supervisor and mentor to support the growth and development of new teachers.
  • Support HCDE’s Early Childhood Winter Conference/Scholastic Art and Writing
  • Must be able to work a full 40-hour schedule to perform major responsibilities.
  • Comply with Department and division goals and objectives.
