POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Master Electrician is responsible for overseeing, installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electrical systems across the facilities. This role ensures compliance with all applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and company standards while serving as the subject matter expert for electrical operations. The Master Electrician provides technical leadership, mentors electricians, and supports facility reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility electrical systems, including low‑, medium‑, and high‑voltage equipment.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with NEC, OSHA, local, and state regulations.
  • Lead electrical projects, including system upgrades, expansions, shutdowns, and commissioning activities.
  • Diagnose complex electrical issues and implement corrective and preventive solutions.
  • Serve as the technical authority for electrical systems and related safety procedures.
  • Review and approve electrical designs, schematics, and contractor work.
  • Lead, mentor, and train electricians and apprentices to ensure quality workmanship and skill development.
  • Coordinate with engineers, operations, contractors, and inspectors to support facility needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including drawings, permits, inspections, and preventive maintenance records.
  • Support Predictive and Preventive Maintenance (PdM/PM) programs to minimize downtime.
  • Respond to emergency electrical issues as required, including after-hours support.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and participate in safety audits, arc‑flash studies, and lockout/tagout compliance.
  • Assist with budgeting, spare parts management, and vendor coordination as needed.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by TAS.

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

  • Master Electrician’s License
  • High School diploma or GED

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Master Electrician license in the applicable state or jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the installation of industrial electric wiring, instrumentation, VFDs, MCCs, and control valves in a shop fabrication facility.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in control wiring
  • Must have a current electrical license registered with the state and carrying a Master Electrician.
  • Strong Knowledge of industry codes and standards: NEC, IEC, UBC, IBC, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of industry "best practices" relating to electrical power distribution systems.
  • Intermediate computer skills (ability to work through spreadsheets and develop documentation)
  • Ability to develop processes and procedures for electrical work.
  • Must have a good command of the English language, both written and verbal
  • Ability to travel to all TAS sites to carry out work activities.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in manufacturing or high-reliability facilities.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems (e.g., Fiix or equivalent).
  • Experience with PLCs, VFDs, power distribution systems, and energy management
  • Training in arc‑flash analysis and electrical safety programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work performed in a shop environment;
  • Exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable;
  • Requires normal vision and absence of color blindness
  • Physical effort equal to frequent moving of up to 50lbs materials;
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, bend, and reach; with occasional crawling, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders and stairs
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive electrical experience in industrial, commercial, or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC, OSHA, and local electrical codes.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting complex electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to stand up to 10 hours a day (with a lunch in between) and up to 6 days a week;
  • Ability to work in a non-air-conditioned environment.
  • PPE is required at all times.
