JOB TITLE: Interim Teacher – Bilingual Education Grades PK-5
REPORTS TO: School Principal
WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt
PAY GRADE: Bachelor’s Degree - $50,000/year
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Interim Teacher for Bilingual Education Grades PK-5 will be responsible for implementing the district’s instructional program and educational philosophy in the subject area or grade level designated in accordance with district policies, and procedures. This position will also be responsible for performing job duties specific to the Bilingual Education program needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Enrolled in a TEA-approved Educator Preparation Program
- Provide Spring ISD with a certification deficiency plan for Core Subjects with STR (EC-6) and Bilingual
- Permit Spring ISD to apply for the emergency permit
- Have at least 25% of coursework completed
- Passed at least two of the four TExES exams required to earn a statement of eligibility
- Core Subjects EC-6
- Science of Teaching Reading,
- Bilingual Target Language Proficiency Test (BTLPT)
- Bilingual Supplemental, and
- PPR if your EPP requires it to earn a statement of eligibility
- Be qualified to teach at the assigned grade level

Meet Texas Education Agency (TEA) emergency permit requirements for Elementary (Grades EC-6, general education) and Bilingual Education assignments (Texas Education Agency)
Preferred:
- Experience working with children
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to establish effective working relationships while maintaining effective classroom management strategies.
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be flexible
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Implements lessons plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate.
- Communicates effectively with students and parents.
- Maintains a structured, safe and positive learning environment for all students in accordance with school policies.
- Maintains and respects confidentiality of student and school personnel information
- Complies with and supports school and state regulations and policies.
- Ensures the adequate supervision of students at all times.
- Exemplifies professionalism in behavior and performance
- Performs other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school/state policies and practices.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The usual and customary methods of performing this job require the following:
Job may require prolonged periods of time standing, moderate sitting, stooping, bending, reaching and repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Ability to maintain emotional control under stress. May require some lifting no more than 10lbs.
