Quanex is looking for an HRIS & Payroll Administrator to join our team located in Houston, Texas.
As an HRIS & Payroll Administrator is responsible for managing the organization’s Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and ensuring accurate and timely payroll reviews. This role maintains employee data, supports HR reporting and analytics, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and company policies. The position works closely with HR, Payroll, HRIS, and department managers to ensure efficient HR operations and payroll administration.

What You’ll do
- Manage the HRIS Help Desk ticketing system.
- Maintain and administer the HRIS system, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and security.
- Ensure employee data changes are processed accurately in the HRIS, including hires, terminations, promotions, and compensation updates.
- Maintain system workflows, security roles, and user access.
- Generate HR reports and analytics for leadership and compliance purposes.
- Troubleshoot HRIS issues and serve as the primary system administrator.
- Support system upgrades, testing, and implementations of new HRIS features.
- Maintain payroll records including wages, deductions, taxes.
- Conduct payroll audits to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
- Assist with payroll audits and year-end processes including W-2 preparation.
- Assist with compliance payroll tax regulations and labor laws.
- Provide training and support to employees and managers on HRIS tools.
- Assist with HR projects, process improvements, and documentation.
Your Credentials:
- High school diploma required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Three (3) or more years of HRIS administration and payroll processing.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred
- Experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., UKG, Workday, ADP, UKG, Paycom, or similar).
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations and HR data management
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Advanced Excel or data reporting skills preferred.
- Knowledge of HR compliance and employment laws.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
The salary range for this position is $66,000 to $80,000 with bonus potential.
